One of the year’s most memorable and entertaining musical events will be presented on Friday, September 23 in Hot Springs, Arkansas as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” is presented at The Muses Creative Artistry Project’s fourth annual Opera Gala. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a wine reception at the new “3 Arts Café”, the downtown home of the Muses, in the lobby of the Hale Bathhouse on beautiful Bathhouse Row. Following the reception, guests will enjoy a lovely stroll through Arlington Lawn to the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa’s Crystal Ballroom for heavy hors d’oeuvres and the performance of “The Magic Flute.”
The Muses’ presentation marks the 220th anniversary of the debut of “The Magic Flute,” Mozart’s enchanting last opera, which premiered in Vienna in September 1791. It is in the form of a “singspiel,” a popular form that includes sung and spoken dialogue. The opera will be sung in both German and English, with narration in English to complement the amazing variety of vocal selections. More than 20 singers, instrumentalists, actors, and dancers from across the country will tell Mozart’s tale of myth, magic, and music to deliver the life-affirming message: love conquers all.
Gala tickets, $75 each or $750 for a table of ten, and can be purchased in our online store, or by contacting The Muses, 501.463.4514. Event sponsorships, which include a table for ten, an exclusive sponsor’s concert and recognition throughout the year, are also available, along with other patron levels. The holiday season is upon us yet again. And the Muses Creative Artistry Project has been working overtime to get two shows ready for Christmastime 2009. Garvan Woodland Gardens and the Arlington Hotel in downtown Hot Springs, will play host to the Muses Christmas extravaganza. Vocalists from New Orleans and Austin, Pianists from New York City, and, of course, Deleen Davidson, are putting together a beautiful and warm tribute to the holiday season. Also on tap for these shows is a never before heard trio (Bill Huntington, Shelley Martin, and Steve Suter), giving their interpretations of classic Christmas standards. These will be must see performances. For more information and to buy tickets, please contact themusesproject.org.
She ended up painting nine works titled ” The Muses”. The series is an absolutely stunning depiction of the nine muses and is currently on display at her gallery on Grand Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Muses would like to thank Carole once again!
The Muses Creative Artistry Project has been very busy lately! We would now like to take a quick breath… phew… thanks. Immediately after the Hanamaki Music Festival, the Muses took their show to the Governor’s Mansion. This was for the yearly Muses Gala. We were not only performing, but the Muses organization was putting the gala together. It was a sold out event. A magical evening with good food, fantastic performances, beautiful venue, and a great audience. Since then, the Muses has been preparing for events toward the end of October and multiple events at the beginning of December. We hope everyone is happy and well, as we head into Fall.
Greetings to all! Deleen Davidson, president and founder of The Muses Creative Artistry Project, and Dr. Hee-Kung Juhn, Muses piano wizard, are currently performing in Hanamaki, Japan. They have been participating in the Hot Springs, Arkansas-Hanamaki, Japan sister city program, representing the city of Hot Springs in Hanamaki. Hanamaki is a city of approximately 75,000 people. It is located 300 miles northwest of Tokyo and is much like the city of Hot Springs. Nestled in the mountains, Hanamaki is known for its hot springs, beautiful vistas, and love of the arts. Deleen and Hee-Kung have been dazzling sell-out crowds for the last week and look forward to their return to Hot Springs this weekend. Deleen and Hee-Kung will tell first hand of their experiences in Japan, so keep coming back to this blog!
